These are very recent photos from our current
trip to the Tucson area. The big sky and the giant
saguaro cacti is just breathtaking.
I fear that these photos do not do them justice.

Skywatch Friday

A new sign in the sky. Last week saw
the raising of a new sign in 'downtown'
Marathon. We have a new establishment, The Famous Burro,
and the owner had this sign commissioned.




In addition to a beautiful sign, it is well lit at night by
led and uses less electricity than a 100 watt standard
light bulb. Unfortunately I don't have
a night shot with the sign lit. I'll try to get one and
post it later.

Key point, notice the great blue sky in the background.

OK, I really love this place ( and I haven't taken any
new photos lately)

These are from the area called 'The Basin', the
highest easily acessable part of
the park. It is surrounded by magnificant
views

Skywatch Friday - Big Bend National Park

Skywatch Friday, for February 27

These are some shots from Big Bend National Park, just
south of us here in Marathon. It is absolutely beautiful
and very interesting.


The terrain is quite varied, and most different
types of geological formation can be found.

We've been on geology tours of the park, and there's
no way I can remember all the different formations.

This park forms a part of the US border with Mexico
and is very rugged. It should be on everyone's
list of places to visit.
