Promises, Promises....

I know I said I was going to do better about posting, but then again, I get to do all the driving and keeping the rig on the road.  (Just an excuse)  We've made it all the way from Marathon to Maine, by way of a lot of the east coast, without a lot of photos.  We lingered in NC for two weeks with family and friends (still family really) and then in SC for a week with our daughter and her husband.  Now we're headed north.  We spent a couple of days in Kennebunkport, ME and now we're in Bangor to pick up my sister and head into New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  I will really try to do photos with the next post.

Wow, how time does fly!!

We took off on our first major journey with the new rig and more than a little trepidation.  We've not had too much practice with filling stations and a big trailer.  Couple that with a smallish gas tank and low mileage and we now have lots of practice.  The east coast is a mere 250 gallons from home and lots of gas stations.  I've heard that if you stop and walk around every hour or so you don't get so tired - I guess you need to do more than fill up the truck.

We're enjoying seeing all our friends, but I do wish they'd do something about the heat and humidity.  When you get used to 25% humidity being really damp, this 60 and 70% well, it just isn't right (or pleasant).

We have plans to make it better though, after a couple of more stops with family, it is our intention to head to the northeast - way northeast, like Nova Scotia.  Cool jacket weather and lots of good seafood.  Also lots more gas stations. 

It's also time to get out the camera and start some pictures.  I wish I had taken more earlier.  We went along the beach in Mississippi and Alabama.  It may never have those clean white beaches again.  We can only hope.

We're going to start out with travels to old familiar places, then move on to new and different places we've not been together. 
Hopefully these little maps that still have a few blank states will get filled in.  It is my intention to be more faithful about blogging and posting pictures.  Time will tell.

Time

Time - that element of which we never have enough - never slows down to let us more wisely use it.  My last post was in December, that seems like yesterday, now it's almost May.

What where when why how have we so little of the one thing - time - that is so easy to use.

Take time to:
     Smell the roses
     Look at and enjoy the flowers (even those wild ones we call weeds)
     SMILE!!!
     Say thanks to your Greatest Power
     Share your feelings with those you love
    
 Enjoy life,  love, and the riches of your being.

Christmas Eve, 2009

Here we are in far west Texas, enjoying a howling wind blow around the house. It's 36 outside, on the way to a supposed high of 47. Interesting things blow around - tumbleweed chasing plastic grocery bags, any scrap of trash not securely contained. I wonder how reindeer and a sleigh can fight this wind.

We'll not have a white Christmas, maybe a dusty brown one, but a very Merry one none the less.
